25 Movies and TV shows to kill that Boredom!

The outbreak of Covid-19 or Corona virus has caused us all to stay at home, or in other words, self quarantine. Well, it is similar to the dreaded Summer break(the one with the endless boredom) but only minus meeting friends and hanging out. So here are 25 Movies and TV Shows in no particular order, to replace that boredom with some popcorn.

1. 12 Angry Men(1957): An exceptionally hot sunny day, a room full with 12 Jurors presented with a case of murder. A black and white movie, with a ton of opinions that are relevant in today’s times as well. It makes us realise that Justice and Judgement are fragile subjects that require a healthy discussion and a lot of thought. It’s a movie under the Drama Genre and is 1 hr 36 mins long.

2. Catch me if you can(2002): A biographical drama of a con man with exceptional skills of deception. DiCaprio portrays Frank Abagnale who is a con artist with several identities. Will he get caught or not? You’ll find that out in 2 hrs and 20 mins.

3. Ford Vs Ferrari(2019): A battle between two automobile giants of that time to win a prestigious title. It shows us how important a driver is to the racing vehicle. If you’re a motorhead or a racing fan then it’s a must watch film. Even otherwise it’s a great movie with amazing screenplay that keeps you engaged for 2 hrs 32 mins.

4. JOJO Rabbit(2019): It is set during the second world war in Nazi Germany. It show a 10 year old who is put out in the battle field instead of the playground. It doesn’t fail to make you laugh and falls under the Drama- Comedy Genre. It conveys a very important and powerful message in 1 hr 48 mins.

5. Knives Out(2019): It is a murder mystery which revolves around a billionaire family. It is a well written movie with a ton of twists and turns that will leave you surprised. The less you know about it, the better! Go watch it, it’s 2 hrs 10 mins.

6. Memento(2000): This is one of Nolan’s marvels. It involves a protagonist looking to avenge his wife’s murder. The movie is beautifully shot to fit a frame of 1 hr 54 mins.

7. Shutter Island(2010): This is a psychological thriller which keeps you questioning if it’s all really happening or if it’s just in your head. It’s 2 hrs 19 mins long.

8. The Shawshank Redemption(1994): The protagonist, a banker, is arrested and sentenced to life in the Shawshank prison for the murder of his wife. It’s one of those movies that you’ll regret not watching sooner. With Morgan Freeman’s magical voice, this movie leaves you with a sense of satisfaction after 2 hrs 22 mins.

9. Prestige(2006): It is a Mystery about two magicians. It shows their battle to reach the top. Nolan skillfully portrays their personal and professional lives and in the end of 2 hrs 15 mins, he leaves us with plenty of questions

10. Marvel movies: A collection of 23 movies with several super heroes with unique powers that is shot in different timelines but all come together in the end. If you haven’t watched it yet, now is a good time to watch or rewatch!

11. Godfather Trilogy: It’s a movie about a powerful Italian family whose patriarch is Don Carleone. His raise to power, how he kept the power in his hands and how well his successor handles that power is all these three movies are about. It was originally a set of novels by Mario Puzo. Each movie is about 3 hours long so, if you’ve got plenty of time to spare, this is what you should be watching.

12. Dead Poets Society(1989): A 2 hr 20 mins long beautifully written Drama with Robin Williams as a High school English teacher will just make us go ‘O Captain, My Captain’.

13. Inception(2014): It is about a man that steals information from other people’s dreams. Nolan keeps us hooked for 2 hrs 28 mins.

14. Predestination(2014): A time travel movie that messes with your head and leaves you wondering after 1 hr 37 mins.

15. Interstellar(2014): If you’re into space then this is a must watch. With Nolans magical touch, it’s a thought provoking Sci-Fi that is 2 hrs 49 mins long.

16. Forrest Gump(1994): Starring Tom Hanks with all his amazing acting skill, it’s a movie about a boy Forrest and how he makes every person believe in themselves and to strive harder. As a child he is claimed to a boy with lower IQ than the rest but his adulthood proves otherwise and leaves us speechless.

17. Sound of Music(1965): A story set during the times of the War in which a playful Nun sets foot into the Von Trapp family with 7 mischievous children and becomes their governess. A light hearted movie with an unexpected romance leaves us smiling at the end of 2 hrs 52 mins.

18. Pursuit of Happyness(2006): A sentimental story starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith as a father and son duo with Will Smith as a struggling single father. It’s a heart touching drama for a duration of 1 hr 57 mins.

19. Saving Private Ryan(1998): One of Spielberg’s intriguing and creative works. Set during the times of war, with Tom Hanks and his team on the lookout for Private Ryan. This movie features some great cinematography and editing. Its 2 hrs 50 mins long.

20. Room(2015): Brie Larson’s breathtaking acting makes our heart ache with this Drama/Thriller. It revolves around a mother and son who are trapped in a room and it shows a mothers endless efforts to help her child escape.

21. Pulp fiction(1994): Three stories that find links in the span of movie. Watch it and find out.

22. Cast Away(2000): Following a plane crack, the protagonist finds himself marooned in an island. Without any companionship, food or shelter, it reveals what humans require the most to survive in extreme conditions.

23. Sherlock Holmes: Well, you know detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner Dr Watson. The series and movie both show them solving puzzles and saving lives. The movie (2 parts) starring RDJ and the series(4 seasons) starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock are both a must watch!

24. FRIENDS(10 seasons): My personal favourite series of all times! It revolves around the lives of 6 individuals who become Friends and their lives. Set in the 90’s it’s a comedy which makes you forget all your real world problems and gets you hooked!

25. Hush(2016): A deaf, mute writer living alone in the woods is presented with a threat to her life in the form of a serial killer. Her struggle to survive the night without getting killed and with no cry for help keeps us at the edge of our seats. Its 1 hr 27 mins long and there is no dull moment.
